Looks real enough, and probably is.

Next you will see a mushroom cloud. Watch the cloud closely. You will see that it does not change during the time it is shown. But the picture is moving all around. It appears that they took a still photograph, projected it onto a screen, and made a film of it with a movie camera. The camera man moved the camera all around as he took the picture to give the impression he was riding on an airplane, and being jostled around.

The same technique is used latter, toward the end of the video, with the mushroom cloud supposedly over Nagasaki.

Between those, you see another plane from above, in black and white. Then you see a color picture, like a map. A white cloud appears in the center and grows. Then the picture moves, stops, move again. You are supposed to have the impression that this was taken from an airplane. Did the airplane stop, take the picture, and then move on? They weren't using helicopters in WWII.

My conclusion is: Except for the two airplanes, this film was made in a movie studio. It is a fake. You watch it and decide.

Einstein: pacifist and zionist

From Stamps of Israel

World Citizen

After 1919, Einstein became internationally renowned. He accrued honors and awards, including the Nobel Prize in physics in 1922, from various world scientific societies. His visit to any part of the world became a national event; photographers and reporters followed him everywhere. While regretting his loss of privacy, Einstein capitalized on his fame to further his own political and social views. The two social movements that received his full support were pacifism and Zionism. During World War I he was one of a handful of German academics willing to publicly decry Germany's involvement in the war. After the war his continued public support of pacifist and Zionist goals made him the target of vicious attacks by anti-Semitic and right-wing elements in Germany. Even his scientific theories were publicly ridiculed, especially the theory of relativity. When Hitler came to power, Einstein immediately decided to leave Germany for the United States. He took a position at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, New Jersey. While continuing his efforts on behalf of world Zionism, Einstein renounced his former pacifist stand in the face of the awesome threat to humankind posed by the Nazi regime in Germany. In 1939 Einstein collaborated with several other physicists in writing a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, pointing out the possibility of making an atomic bomb and the likelihood that the German government was embarking on such a course. The letter, which bore only Einstein's signature, helped lend urgency to efforts in the U.S. to build the atomic bomb, but Einstein himself played no role in the work and knew nothing about it at the time. After the war, Einstein was active in the cause of international disarmament and world government. He continued his active support of Zionism but declined the offer made by leaders of the state of Israel to become president of that country. In the U.S. during the late 1940s and early '50s he spoke out on the need for the nation's intellectuals to make any sacrifice necessary to preserve political freedom. Einstein died in Princeton on April 18, 1955. Einstein's efforts in behalf of social causes have sometimes been viewed as unrealistic. In fact, his proposals were always carefully thought out. Like his scientific theories, they were motivated by sound intuition based on a shrewd and careful assessment of evidence and observation. Although Einstein gave much of himself to political and social causes, science always came first, because, he often said, only the discovery of the nature of the universe would have lasting meaning.

His writings include

Relativity: The Special and General Theory (1916);
About Zionism (1931);
Builders of the Universe (1932);
Why War? (1933), with Sigmund Freud;
The World as I See It (1934);
The Evolution of Physics (1938), with the Polish physicist Leopold Infeld;

Einstein's collected papers are being published in a multivolume work, beginning in 1987.

Samuel Glasstone, "Einstein, Albert"

1994 Funk & Wagnall's Corporation.

[Notice that this article mentions that Einstein took no part in the making of the atomic bomb, that is, he wasn't involved in the Manhattan Project. Doesn't it seem odd that this man, who was supposed to be just about the smartest man alive at the time, wasn't involved in the Manhattan Project? Why not?]

The Albert Einstein Myth

Albert Einstein is portrayed as one of the greatest geniuses that ever lived, and whose theories are the foundations of the atomic bomb. In reality, there is much evidence that the copied everything he published. There have been several articles and a few books written about this, so I will just give you the links to a few things, and let you read them, if you desire:

Albert Einstein-- was he a thief, a liar and a plagiarist?

Einstein: Super Genius? But, if you don't, take some time to consider this: If Einstein is presented to the public as a genius, but in fact isn't such, then what about all the scientists who worked on the Manhattan project? Could it be that they aren't as smart as you have been led to believe? And if Albert Einstein was a Zionist Jew with an agenda, could it be that the many jewish scientists involved in the Manhattan project had a Zionist agenda also?

Mushroom Cloud over Harlingen, Texas

Paul Tibbets had performing roles in several movies, often portraying himself.

In October, 1976, Tibbets did a live performance at an air show in Harlingen, Texas. My argument is that the atomic bomb doesn't need to exist to implement these plans, but only that people believe that atomic bombs exists.

Zionist Plans For World
Government - 1946
2-22-4

The Baruch Plan for World Government Peter Myers, September 5, 2001; update March 20, 2003. My comments are shown {thus}. You are at http://users.cyberone.com.au/myers/baruch-plan.html.

Pavel Sudoplatov, Stalin's spymaster, says in his memoirs Special Tasks, that Niels Bohr & Robert Oppenheimer helped the Soviet Union get the atomic bomb.

It's not that they were "spies" as such; rather, they believed they were supporting a good cause. No doubt they were motivated by the "anti-Fascist" alliance of the time.

In 1946, the US government put to Stalin a plan for World Government, created by Bernard Baruch & David Lilienthal, both Jews. This plan was put in the pages of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Bertrand Russell described its development in his book Has Man a Future?. Baruch had earlier been associated with Wilson's attempt to have the League of Nations created as a World Government, with a World Army and a World Court. The Encyclopaedia Judaica (Jerusalem, 1971) says that Baruch "served on the Supreme Economic Council at the Conference of Versailles, where he was President Wilson's personal economic adviser".

Stalin got cold feet - he'd noticed the Jewish campaign to have a Jewish republic within the USSR, created in the Crimea. What unnerved him especially was that AMERICAN Jews, with their huge financial power, would be involved, and he felt that the USSR would lose control.

As a result, some leaders of the Jewish Antifascist Committee (American at that) had their lives shortened.

Arnold J. Toynbee, of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, argues the case for World Government: "Abolishing war would involve setting up at least a rudimentary world-government. The first world-authority that it would be necessary for us to establish - and, of course, also to endow with effective power - would be a central agency for controlling the production and the use of atomic energy. ... " toynbee.html.

A proposal for World Government is a serious matter, affecting everyone. World Government will be final: there will be no "trial run", and nowhere to escape should it turn bad. Examination is therefore warranted; to promote study of this matter, here are images of the pages of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists:

After the letters "bas", the date of each issue is indicated in the format yymmdd, and the page number follows. If they had joined up, no other force could have resisted them.

Such a proposal for World Government was put in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists over several months in 1946. In his book Has Man a Future?, Bertrand Russell - an advocate of world government - describes how it developed, first as a proposal assembled by David Lilienthal, then in a form developed by Bernard Baruch (p. 25 & p. 97). This "Baruch Plan" was canvassed in the issues of 1946 and put to Stalin. By the end of that year, Stalin had rejected it, on the grounds that it required submission to Washington, and the Cold War had begun.

On October 1, 1946, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists carried an article by Russell entitled The Atomic Bomb and the Prevention of War, where he writes,

"The American and British governments ... should make it clear that genuine international cooperation is what they most desire. But although peace should be their goal, they should not let it appear that they are for peace at any price. At a certain stage, when their plan (sic) for an international government are ripe, they should offer them to the world ... If Russia acquiesced willingly, all would be well. If not, it would be necessary to bring pressure to bear, even to the extent of risking war".

Baruch and Lilienthal, the authors of the Plan, were Jews, and both editors of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, which carried the Plan and its debate, were Jews.

(2) from Ben-Ami Shillony, The Jews and the Japanese, Charles E. Tuttle Company, Rutland Vermont, 1991.

{p. 190} Jewish scientists played a prominent role in the development of the atomic bomb. It was an Austrian Jewish woman physicist, Lise

{p. 191} Meitner, who first alerted allied scientists to the possibility of splitting the atom. ... In July 1939, two Hungarian Jewish physicists who had fled from the Nazis, Leo Szilard and Eugene Wigner, informed Albert Einstein, by then a refugee from the Nazis in the United States, that recent German successes in harnessing atomic energy could enable the Nazis to build an atomic bomb. They begged Einstein to urge the U. S. government to develop such a weapon before the Nazis did. ... The man who arranged the meetings between the scientists and the president was a Jewish banker and close friend of the president, Alexander Sachs. ...

Many Jewish scientists worked on the Manhattan project. The most famous of them was Robert Oppenheimer, director of the Los Alamos laboratory; the others included Leo Szilard, Niels Bohr, Otto Frisch, Eugene Rabinowitch, James Franck, Felix Bloch, and Edward Teller (who later developed the H-bomb).

{p. 192} The super weapon that Einstein and the other Jewish scientists had in mind was intended for use against Nazi Germany, not against Japan. ... after the surrender of Germany in May, 1945, Leo Szilard drafted a petition to President Truman, stating that although there had been justification for using the atomic bomb against Germany, there was no

{p. 193} justification for using it against Japan. ... In early June 1945, James Franck, Leo Szilard, Eugene Rabinowitch and others dispatched a report to Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson, urging him not to drop the bomb on Japan.

(3) from Alfred M. Lilienthal, THE ZIONIST CONNECTION II: What Price Peace?, Veritas Publishing Colnpany, Bullsbrook, Western Australia, 6084, 1983

{p. 235} The Jewish connection on the political level has been of even far greater consequence. Starting at least with the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration, important decision-making echelons of the U.S. government have been filled with many Jews. The New Dealers contained the broadest kind of list, ranging from Henry Morgenthau, Jr., Herbert Lehman, David Niles, and Samuel Rosenberg to Morris Ernst and Robert Nathan. Bernard Baruch played a unique role as adviser to five Presidents. David E. Lilienthal and Lewis H. Strauss were Chairmen of the Atomic Energy Commission.

(4) The Atomic Scientists of Chicago

>From http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/spcl/chain.html:

'The University of Chicago is not only the site of the world's first self- sustaining nuclear reaction, but also one of the earliest and most influential centers of the atomic scientists' movement.

'On December 2, 1942, scientists at the University of Chicago produced the world's first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction ... This experiment, crucial to the control of nuclear fission, was one of several research projects at sites around the country, each concentrating on some task critical to production of an atomic bomb. All were administered by the U.S. Army under the code name of Manhattan Engineer District, or Manhattan Project.'

Two Jewish scientists, Eugene Rabinowitch and Hyman H. Series 2: BULLETIN OF THE ATOMIC SCIENTISTS, 1945-1972 The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) was begun in December 1945 by Eugene Rabinowitch and Hyman H. Goldsmith. Originally called the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists of Chicago, it served as a newsletter for the Atomic Scientists of Chicago. In 1946 the name was changed to its present form. The Bulletin started "as a means of calling public attention to the perils of atomic energy and the urgent need for its control by a civilian agency."'

(5) H. G. Wells on how Russia might be incorporated into a World Government:

H.G. Wells laid out the scenario for drawing the USSR back in, in his book The Shape of Things to Come (he called his One-World movement The Modern State Movement).

H. G . Wells, The Shape of Things to Come: the Ultimate Revolution. London, Hutchinson & Co., 1933:

"The method of treaty-making {i.e. international agreements} and a modus vivendi was already in operation in regard to Russia. There indeed it was hard to say whether the Communist party or the Modern State Movement was in control, so far had assimilation gone. And the new spirit in the old United States was now so 'Modern' that the protests of Washington and of various state governors against the Controls were received hilariously. Aeroplanes from Dearborn circled over the capital and White House and dropped parodies of the President's instructions to dissolve the Air and Food Trust of America. All over that realist continent, indeed, the Controls expanded as a self-owned business with a complete disregard of political formalities. But the European situation was more perplexing." (p. 320).

(6) Lionel Curtis on how World Government can be made to look like something else:

from Lionel Curtis, Civitas Dei: THE COMMONWEALTH OF GOD, MACMILLAN AND CO., LONDON 1938.

{p. 471} THE GRAND ALLIANCE {1815, after the defeat of Napoleon}

AT Vienna the concert of Europe had come into being. When the Congress closed the dominant figure in its counsels was the Tzar, whose position in some ways resembled that which President Wilson afterwards filled at the Conference of Paris. Like Wilson he dreamed of creating a body to order the general affairs of mankind. In September 1815 he invited the governments of Europe to recognise that all human authority is derived from God, and to join in 'a Holy Alliance' to assert that principle. ...

Alexander hoped through this Article to realise the

{p. 472} dreams of a world-government foreshadowed in the Holy Alliance, and Castlereagh must have accepted it only to avoid giving him offence.

{end of selections}

Note that Alexander's text did not explicitly canvas world government, but the meaning was clear to Curtis; in the same way, the League of Nations and the Baruch Plan disguised their intentions.

(7) The Baruch Plan was certainly supported by Oppenheimer, and seemingly by Bohr. Was Oppenheimer on BOTH sides of the fence? Such scientists saw themselves as working, not for America or Russia, but for a World Authority based on universalist principles, which transcended national loyalty. If they were somewhat blind to Jewish domination in creating the USSR, or harshness in running the Cheka, this is comparable to white Americans' blindness to their invasion of indigenous Americans, despite the United States' universal principles.

The sense seems to be that, from the Jewish point of view, both East and West had "Jewish/Universalist" and "Aryan/Christian" factions.

If "Jewish/Universalist" factions got power in both the East and West blocks at the same time, they might form a World Government. That's why, whatever Stalin's sins, one might be thankful that he, not Trotsky, was in power. The struggle between the two factions within the USSR led to Stalin's murder in 1953, and arguably to the fall of the Soviet Union.

Probably Oppenheimer & Bohr saw the "Aryan/Christians" (i.e. anti-communists) as their main enemy; sharing secrets with Stalin was a way of working against them. After WWII was over, they did not need Stalin so much, and could dare to assert supremacy, in the hope that he might agree, & their long-cherished dream come about.

(8) The very people who created the atomic bomb were the ones telling us we needed World Government because of the danger. Some of them had even shared the bomb with the Soviet Union, inadvertently creating the arms race.

They were right in a way - competition could destroy the planet; but had World Government been granted on their terms, they and their allies would have been in a position of great power, able to dominate the world. Can they therefore claim altruism as their motive?

Was the Baruch Plan an offer by those who had the bomb to relinquish control of it? Or were they trying to use their monopoly to extend their hegemony over the whole world?

A key feature of the Baruch Plan discussions was an insistence that the Permanent Members of the Security Council give up their Veto power; such a demand is still made today by the One-World lobby, as then associated with high finance.

Then Baruch, today Soros.

Gorbachev bought their "One World" line; but look what they did to the Soviet Union. When they threatened to intervene in Chechnya as they had in Kosovo, Yeltsin reminded them that Russia still had a full nuclear arsenal. Perhaps that's why the American government wants its "missile-defence" system: so that it can intervene anywhere at will ... in the name of "Human Rights".

The West's betrayal of Russia after the Cold War shows that it cannot be trusted.

http://users.cyberone.com.au/myers/baruch-plan.html

Hypocenter Park Nagasaki

In the first map, 'A' marks Hypocenter park:

View Larger Map

In the second map, 'B' marks Hypocenter Park:

View Larger Map

Here is the link to the infamous mushroom cloud, attributed to Nagasaki. This is on the National Achives World War II web page. This is a much larger file than is normally seen. In this larger picture, more detail can be seen. In smaller pictures, there appears to be one column that rises up, first dark, then abruptly changing to white. In this larger photo, it can be plainly seen that the dark and the white column are actually two different columns.

The white cloud appears to be rising from an island, or peninsula, in the middle of the photo. The dark column appears to be rising from a beach in the foreground, at the bottom of the photo. The island appears to have a narrow stream of water behind it, and a larger stream in front. The two streams seem to be joining to the left, but it is beyond the border of the photo.

Now, compare this picture to the above maps, and ask yourself if the picture is really that of Nagasaki.

The Infamous mushroom cloud

The most fearsome looking, and probably the most famous picture of a mushroom cloud is this one:

Notice that the lighting appears to be from directly overhead; where the sun would be at noon. This presents a problem since Hiroshima was bombed at 8:16 AM. The sun should be much lower. To remedy this, the officials claim that the above is a picture of Nagasaki, which was bombed at 11:02 AM. And the picture below is of Hiroshima. Apparently, not everyone got the word because the above picture is also claimed by many to be the one of Hiroshima.

See Star Bulletin

Library Think Quest

Hiroshima and Nagasaki Remembered

Some say the picture is Nagasaki, some Hiroshima, but most don't attributed to either. It's just a generic mushroom cloud.

This picture doesn't really solve the lighting problem. It still appears that the lighting is coming from a steep angle. Notice the shadow at the bottom of the white cloud. It appears to be very short.

Notice also the grainy appearance in the background of both pictures. Photography in 1945 was much better than this. Notice that at the very bottom of the white cloud, in the bottom picture, there is a small area where the dark smoke, is very plain and sharp, but around that, it is blurry.

This second picture just doesn't have that good, mushroom look to it, like the first picture. That might be why the first picture seems more popular, and turns up more often in internet searches for 'mushroom cloud'.

Napalm masquerades as nuclear mushroom

Here is a picture that appears often on the internet. It is claimed to be a 'nuke'. But is it really?

Notice that except for some unidentifiable parts of a structure in the foreground of the photo, there is nothing in the picture that allows the mind to establish a scale for the explosion. The viewer is unable to determine whether this is a large explosion or a small one.

Notice also that the color ranges from red through orange and yellow to nearly white. Compare the above 'nuke' to the picture just below, which is one of napalm burning:

I believe the above is from a movie stage.

The picture appears on this page: Jericho: Reconstruction recap

Below: A napalm strike:

The picture appears on this page: Western & Northern Africa Database

Below is another picture of napalm. Notice that the flame loses its yellow tint and becomes blue. This is a hotter flame than the acetylene burning alone in the atmosphere:

The above picture and a discussion of oxyacetylene flames can be found at: The oxyacetylene process

So is the first picture that of a nuclear blast? Or is it just napalm, or some other hydrocarbon burning in air?

The temperature on the ground at Hiroshima is claimed to be up to 6000 C. At such a temperature there would not be a yellow flame. The yellowish color of the first photo would indicate a temperature much lower than that claimed to be produced in a nuclear blast.

One month after Hiroshima was bombed, it was coverered with vegetation

The following is from the book Hiroshima by John Hersey:

"The hospitals and aid stations around Hiroshima were so crowded in the first weeks after the bombing, and their staffs were so variable. depending on their health and on the unpredictable arrival of outside help, that patients had to be constantly shifted from place to place. Miss Sasaki, who had already been moved three times, twice by ship, was taken at the end of August to an engineering school, also at Hatsukaichi. Because her leg did not improve but swelled more and more, the doctors at the school bound it with crude splints and took her by car, on September 9th, to the Red Cross Hospital in Hiroshima. This was the first chance she had had to look at the ruins of Hiroshima; the last time she had been carried through the city's streets, she had been hovering on the edge of unconsciousness. Even though the wreckage had been described to her, and though she was still in pain, the sight horrified and amazed her, and there was something she noticed about it that particularly gave her the creeps. Over everything - up through the wreckage of the city, in gutters, along the riverbanks, tangled among tiles and tin roofing, climbing on charred tree trunks, - was a blanket of fresh, vivid, lush, optimistic green; the verdancy rose even from the foundations of ruined houses. Weeds already hid the ashes, and wild flowers were in bloom among the city's bones. The bomb had not only left the underground organs of plants intact; it had stimulated them. Everywhere were bluets and Spanish bayonets, goosefoot, morning glories and day lilies, the hairy-fruited bean, purslane and clotbur and sesame and panic grass and feverfew. Especially in a circle at the center, sickle senna grew in extraordinary regeneration, not only standing among the charred remanants of the same plant but pushing up in new places, among bricks and through cracks in the asphalt. It actually seemed as if a load of sickle-senna seed had been dropped along with the bomb."

Copyright by John Hersey, 1946

Originally appeared in The New Yorker magazine.

(Pages. 90-92)

How did these plants, the seeds and the roots, survive a temperature estimated to be 3000 to 6000 C? The theory goes that when critical mass is reached, that is to say, when you have a large enough blob of fissionable material, you will get a sustainable chain reaction. Then the chain reaction causes an explosion, and you blow up Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The Wikipedia article linked above warns:

      "Until detonation is desired, a nuclear weapon must be kept subcritical."

There have been several 'criticality accidents' over the years. They release radiation in the form of heat and light, but no explosion. Even the explosion at Chernobyl was not caused by a nuclear explosion:

    "On 26 April 1986 at 1:23 a.m., reactor 4 suffered a massive, catastrophic power excursion (the chain reaction grew out of control, similar to the initial stage in the detonation of a nuclear weapon). This caused a steam explosion, followed by a second (chemical, not nuclear) explosion from the ignition of generated hydrogen mixed with air, which tore the top from the reactor and its building, and exposed the reactor core."

(Quote from the Wikipedia article linked above.)

At Chernobyl, the reactor core overheated, and turned the cooling water into steam. The steam caused the first explosion.

Here is an historic account of a criticality accident:

The work was dangerous as well as time-consuming. One of the worst accidents involved Louis Slotin, a Canadian scientist in charge of monitoring plutonium chain reactions in a device known as the "guillotine." One day the Slotin's screwdriver got jammed in the guillotine, causing the plutonium to form a hypercritical mass capable of explosion. Immediately Slotin tore apart the two pieces of plutonium with his bare hands and in the process absorbed an enormous amount of radiation.

The event is accurately portrayed in the movie "Fat Man and Little Boy ".

The Atomic Bomb

An atomic bomb is supposed to work like this: There are several smaller pieces of fissionable material which are thrown together rapidly into one lump, which is large enough to be a critical mass. The critical mass undergoes a nuclear chain reaction which causes an explosion.

If that is the case, then why didn't the incidents where a critical mass was reached in laboratories and nuclear reactors cause an explosion? And if a critical mass doesn't explode, then what caused the explosions at Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Crawford F. Sams:

I found that in Hiroshima, when I first went down there, we didn’t know [what] the reaction of people would be. We didn’t have any troops in there. The first directive then came to the government of Japan to pertain to the civil population. We had to work out a process as to who we would address it to, all this, whether it would be the Emperor, the Imperial Government, [or] the Imperial General, whatnot. We worked it out anyway (the staff), giving the Japanese responsibility for protecting us (that went there). I found that one of the – [from] what would correspond to our National Research Council – Japanese had gotten down there just after the bombing and figured [from] the effects, that there was radiation involved. I was able to contact him and get his first-hand report and so on. So I decided that I had to get this thing in hand with all these groups coming and all wanting to get all the same information. So, the Atomic Energy Commission was set up by law, subsequently, and we wanted to do research because of all this speculation. You know, you get the extremists, you get a lot of theoretical physicists or a lot of radiologists who said, “Oh boy, genetic effects are going to be so-and-so for this.” We wanted to find out the facts and it would be a long-term project.

The Atomic Energy Commission then back here – they had sent over Staff [Warren] and Shields [Warren] and Warren had been over there originally – they were interested in setting up an American research group there. If that was done then it had to be under my control, and I said, “No.” I had said “no” to some other things like this. In the first place, this thing has to go on for at least a generation. If you set it [up] as an American thing and excluded the Japanese, they’re going to throw you out of here as soon as the peace treaty is signed and your research will go to the board. So it has to be a joint thing. I set up, out there then, a Joint Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission. The American thing was authorized and financed from the United States – the Atomic Energy Commission – but we got the Ministry of Health and Welfare to set up a commission there and so it was jointly staffed with the Japanese and so on. We had some good statisticians, we used Kure as a control group, and so we set up a long-term project on the effects of this radiation. Then the reports came back. Well, I have to tie some things in because we’re still suffering.

I mentioned deterrents against war. There was a letter brought over by this first group that came up to Japan from the Philippines with me, from the Manhattan Project, in which the President was looking for a new deterrent against a future war, because air power had failed. You know, “If you have another war, air power will destroy civilization,” and it failed because it hadn’t even brought Germany to its knees. A strategic bomb survey over there showed that military production had increased actually during our bombings. So the object of this instruction, called Letter of Instruction, was “You will play up the devastating effect of the atomic bomb.” All right? So I was the one who set the deadline this time. Anybody who had been in Hiroshima and died within six months, whether they got run over by a bicycle or whatnot, would be credited to the atomic bomb. We had to set some kind of order to this. Most of the casualties occurred, of course, from thermal readings. You had the bomb – now I’ll just summarize this very quickly because all the reports that came back were the result of these studies that came over my desk.

The atomic bomb went off and that city had about 250 thousand people in it. In other words, you had a high density population exposed, compared to Tokyo which had a population of nine million, but where they anticipated being bombed early in the war after the Doolittle raid. They had taken all “nonsense” people out so there were about three million exposed to the fire and napalm and high explosive bombs that were dropped there. When the bomb went off, about 2 thousand people out of 250 thousand got killed – by blast, by thermal radiation, or by intense x-ray, gamma radiation. Then, what happened is like an earthquake. The blast knocked down houses, hibachis had turned over and started fires. When you have an earthquake or an atomic bomb, you start fires and then people are trapped in the buildings. And again, by endless interviews, “Where were you?” “Where was your great uncle?” “Where was grandma when this occurred?” We built up the evidence to show on a cookie-cutter basis that it took about thirty-six hours for about two-thirds of that town to burn.
You see, it wasn’t “Bing” like the publicity here [said]: a bomb went off and a city disappeared. No such thing happened. That was the propaganda for deterrent. They’re talking about after that, “One bomb and away goes Chicago,” you know? All you’ve got to do is look in Life magazine and whatnot back in ’45, ’46, and so on. What I’m trying to do is to show how it’s like “End the war with one B-17.” Well, you have to keep your feet on the ground. As near as we could figure then, about twenty-one thousand people died in thirty-six hours as a result of being trapped and burned and so on. It’s like those who died in the ’23 earthquake [and subsequent] fire. Then, as I say, I set the six months’ deadline for anybody who had been there, even though they went away and so on, to put a deadline on deaths from delayed radiation effects as far as it takes six months or so for deaths from (what do they call it?) delayed effects.

One of us – Norman Trenton(?), somebody – got a priest there to say he guessed 100 thousand people died when the bomb went off. Well, you see, it didn’t. There never was 100 thousand people [who] died. I recall the figures to the ultimate, six months’ deaths from untreated burns, thermal burns – they didn’t have any drugs or anything else, except what we could get in to them – and the delayed effects of radiation which take several months. You can get acute death from maybe 3,000 rem [roentgen-equivalent-man] to the central nervous system; you can get that right now. Then you get GI symptoms which cause death in a matter of a couple of weeks. Then you get the leukopenias and so on, which occur over a period of several months. So you have three kinds of radiation deaths. It was about, 67 or 76 [thousand], I got my figures transposed, [who] ultimately died in six months, out of 250 thousand. So we got things going on treatment of radiation effects and all this. That’s the facts of Hiroshima.

When I came back to this country, I was appalled, from a military standpoint, to find that our major planners in the War Department were using their own propaganda, 100 thousand deaths, Bing! And [they were] comparing it – saying it was the greatest killer in comparing it to the number of deaths in Tokyo, which had been literally destroyed by high explosives. Actually, the atomic bomb was a damn poor killer in comparison to the exposed population. Tokyo was dispersed, a third of the total. They were using the nine million figure back there, you see. They said, “Well, 250 thousand people were exposed to it and 76 thousand and whatnot died in six months.” It took me a couple of years to get that comparison straightened out in our official training doctrine in this country. I used to tell them back in the general staff and so on and including the chief of staff, “I believe _____(?) if you can deter a war, for God’s sake, let’s do it and blow up the effects all you want. But don’t believe your own propaganda if you are applying it to your military planning.” Unfortunately, we created such hysteria in this country that the mere mention of radiation, or thermal nuclear power, or a couple of millirems of radiation and you have a hysteria. So this is a fact. Actually, the atomic bomb was a poor killer.

Down at Nagasaki, they missed the ground zero they tried to hit, but there’s still the fact that it hit Nagasaki Medical School and Hospital there and killed a lot of patients and so on – from the _____(?) of the concrete building. But the blast effected this and knocked down part of the concrete and so on. But you don’t hear much about the effects of Nagasaki because actually it was pretty ineffective. That was a narrow corridor from the hospital in _____(?) down to the port, and the effects were very limited as far as the fire spread and all that stuff. So you don’t hear much about Nagasaki. It was a different kind of bomb, but still [dangerous] as far as radiation and things happening. So you have to get your facts and keep them in mind and not let hysteria take over. We’re still paying for that hysteria following the atomic bomb, which is deliberately blown up for a very good reason, and which I participated in, in accordance with policy of the government. Well, I hope that [this information] is not too much. That’s all detail and it’s all in reports. The Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission, of course, is now running under the auspices of the Japanese because of the genetic effects, you see, we have to keep [an eye] on it.

Incidentally, leukemia – you hear about leukemia all the time – this is technical questions. (Got a piece of paper?)

Sure.

(Is this on the record – we can take this off the record.) I’ll show you. Whenever you talk about leukemia and radiation, I get a little irritated because they say, “Oh, everybody’s going to die of leukemia from radiation, from years age.” [ed. note: Dr. Sams is apparently writing or drawing something and showing it to the interviewer.] This is leukemia radiation in the population – [it] increases with age. I have said [that] nobody ever proved that leukemia was ever caused by radiation. Because what happened in Hiroshima – this was the big thing everybody was looking for. It went on like this. Here’s the grade(?) it comes from. Now let’s take 1945. And here’s the age it _____(?). This is how it went up. And then it came down. In other words, this area [ed. note: Dr. Sams is apparently showing the interview something he’s just written] _____(?). What radiation does is trigger, not cause, leukemia. You talk to people here on the faculty and they don’t know this. In other words, if you look at the charts we _____(?) what had triggered it early. The total number of cases – this is what, when I got down below this, all the people back there began to [get] quiet. You hear about this propaganda about the radiation down here and at Pennsylvania. It won’t [cause leukemia]. All it does is trigger at an earlier date what was already going to happen. That’s a very interesting thing and unknown to a lot of radiologists. They don’t teach this in medical school. It was certainly an eye-opener to me when we got that [report] done.

Transcript: Crawford F. There are modern structures still standing, with rubble surrounding them. The houses in Tokyo and Hiroshima were made of wood and paper, with clay tile roofs.

The first picture above is of Hiroshima. The second is of Tokyo. If you hadn't been told which is which, could you tell which was firebombed and which was supposedly atomic bombed?

Here's a description of the bomb's effects on Hiroshima and Nagasaki:

(1) Heat rays: Estimates suggest that after the atomic bomb was detonated, powerful heat rays were released for a period of approximately 0.2 to 0.3 seconds, heating the ground to temperatures ranging from 3,000 to 4,000ºC. These heat rays burnt people near the hypocenter to ashes and melted bricks and rocks. It is said that people suffered burns up to 3.5 kilometers from the hypocenter in Hiroshima and up to 4 kilometers in Nagasaki. In addition, the heat rays burnt buildings, triggered large-scale fires and ignited an enormous firestorm.

(2) The Blast: The blast from the atomic bomb completely destroyed all surrounding structures in an area of 4.7 square miles by US estimate. In the areas surrounding the hypocenter, people were slammed into walls and crushed to death by collapsing houses. Injuries were sustained from flying glass and other debris even in areas a long distance from the hypocenter.

The Atomic Bombing, The Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal and the Shimoda Case: Lessons for Anti-Nuclear Legal Movements

Looking at the first photo above; does it look like all the structures were completely destroyed? This is known in legal circles as 'armed robbery', and can lead to heavy punishment. (I highly discourage you from doing this.)

What if someone is just starting out in his criminal career and can't yet afford a real revolver? Historically, some folks have used a toy gun, or carved a realistic gun out of wood, or stuck their hand in a paper bag or their pocket. This has worked very often. Seldom will a victim challenge the robber, saying, "I don't believe you have a gun. Or, if you do, I don't believe it is loaded. Shoot me first and prove to me that you have a gun, that it is loaded and you know how to use it. Then, if you do that, I will comply with your demands"

The reason that faking a weapon has often worked in armed robbery is that the weapon is seldom actually used, beyond the point of brandishing. (It's still called 'armed robbery', even if the gun is never fired.) It is the FEAR that makes the method work, whether the weapon is actual or fake. It is the fear of injury that makes the victim comply with the man with the gun. It's not the actual use of the weapon, but the fear that it will be used. Because of this, it is only necessary for the robber to convince the victim that he has a weapon and can and will use it, it is not necessary to actually have a weapon.

This works on one person. What if someone wants to rob the entire population of the earth? How might they go about that? "Well" you say, "To do that he would need a weapon that could potentially kill everyone on earth." And I'll say, no he wouldn't: He would only need to make the inhabitants of the world THINK that he has the capacity to kill them all.

"Oh, come on." you say, "This is starting to sound like a James Bond movie." Well, maybe Ian Fleming knew something that you don't. What if I were to tell you that this robbery has indeed occurred already? That the world has been held in terror for over fifty years under the threat of a weapon that exists only in science fiction?

"What weapon is that?" you ask.

Nuclear weapons.
